This was a substantial, yet surgical renovation of an old townhouse. The primary challenge for us was implementing new high performance construction within the envelope of multiple past renovations.

The biggest change was to create wider openings at rear of the original masonry walls to open up the space into an existing horizontal extension at the bottom two floors. The home now features a new kitchen and two new bathrooms as well as a new primary staircase, all built within the home while preserving the adjacent finishes. The bedrooms on the top floor were updated with new floors and a custom over-sized 360 degree revolving door. Finally, we installed new triple pane windows throughout the home to upgrade the house’s performance. Between all the improvements, the building looks and functions like a more modern home.
