Ocean parkway GUT RENOVATION

This two-bedroom / two-bathroom apartment had a cramped feeling, due to a narrow hallway that ran from the kitchen and living room to the two bedrooms.  By re-orienting the closets toward the living room we were able to open up the apartment's circulation.  Pivot hinges and flush doors for the closets preserved the long wall of the living area, and we were able to squeeze a washer / dryer into one of them. A new terrace door and new floor completed the transformation of this area.

The bathrooms and kitchen were completely gutted.  We were able to enlarge the kitchen by removing a wall and installing an island in its place - the exposed structural column was coated in a fireproof paint.

All new wiring and plumbing, modern cabinetry, new appliances and fixtures, simple flat baseboard and trim, the skim coating that was done on all walls, and new solid-slab interior doors completed the update.
